Rhonda Wheatley is a Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist and educator whose sculptures, installations, and interactive projects are grounded in the speculative and metaphysical. Her recent projects include group shows at DePaul Art Museum and Art League of Houston; solo shows at Hyde Park Art Center (HPAC) and Aurora Public Art; and an In Progress series performance at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. As part of her practice, Wheatley also seeks to cultivate healing and personal transformation via wellness workshops, such as those she’s facilitated with Creative Capital, The University of Chicago, 3Arts, Chicago Artists Coalition (CAC), 6018North, and more. Additionally, she teaches both hands-on art and professional development courses at HPAC, serving the art center’s youth, teen, adult, and Artful Aging students. She also teaches a contemporary art course at Indiana University Purdue University, Indianapolis. Wheatley received CAC’s inaugural Coney Family Award and a 3Arts ‘Make a Wave’ Grant. She received her MA from DePaul University and a BA from Loyola University.
