Sangwoo Yoo (b. Seoul) is a Chicago-based artist whose sculptures and installations investigate ephemerality, material memory, and ecological cycles through community engagement and sensory experience. He received his MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earning the Eldon Danhausen Fellowship upon graduation, and holds a BFA in Environmental Sculpture from the University of Seoul.

Yoo has received fellowships and residencies from the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, The Watermill Center, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, MASS MoCA, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Loghaven, The Luminary, Vermont Studio Center, Chicago Artists Coalition, and the Ucross Foundation. Among his honors are the 2026 Liu Shiming Artist Grant, being named a Breakout Artist by Newcity (Chicago), and the Emerging Artist Advancement Grant (Arts Council Korea, ARKO) and Artistic Creation Activity Support (Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture); the 2025 Kumho Young Artist Award, Creative Young Artists Award (Kim Chong Yung Museum), and Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Award; and the 2016 Grand Prize at the Korea Hoguk Art Competition.

His work has been exhibited at the Kumho Museum of Art, Hyde Park Art Center, Comfort Station, 6018 North, Chicago Artists Coalition, SITE Gallery, Bridgeport Art Center, and the United Nations Peace Memorial Hall.
